After a long break (and a couple of pandemic related redundancies), we've decided to re-launch NoHoops. We had zero traction at our first attempt in 2019 but things have moved on quite a bit since then. People are increasingly aware of the difference between privacy and consent and the importance of both. We're also learning just how powerful consent management is as an instrument of privacy enhancement and personal data control.

The MVT

We recently saw an interesting article about something we had not come across before - the minimum viable test (MVT). Following a failed launch and the consequent loss of confidence in our project, we figured we needed to try something different. If a minimum viable product (MVP) is a cut down version of a full product, an MVT is a cut down version of an MVP. It's purpose is to test the absolute minimum feature set in order to learn crucial lessons from the results. We're well acquainted with the MVP (having built several in the past) but as we had no success with it, we figured we'd give the MVT a whirl. What could go wrong?

The Test

The question we're asking is pretty simple:

Do website publishers want to ditch their privacy policy so they can offer their visitors an opt-in approach to personal data processing?

The test is equally simple. All we're going to do is count the number of websites that attach our consent tab to their web pages. We will run the test for a couple of weeks following the launch and then review.
